On April 1, 2019, five researchers at Kyoto University and the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) established a new company, “Ocean Eyes Co., Ltd.” (OE), whose business domain is fisheries and marine industries. OE’s business philosophy is to realize sustainable fishery and marine industries by using the latest ocean fisheries AI technology (FishTech) based on advanced technologies of image processing and marine physics. As first services, OE plans to provide a “SEAoME (Shiome)” for predicting oceanographic conditions and a “Fishing Ground Navi (tentative name)” for assisting in deciding fishing grounds.
