OceanEyes Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kyoto) has officially released OEView, a marine condition app that enables fishers to monitor ocean conditions.
This app allows you to check highly accurate sea condition prediction data unique simulation technology and satellite observation data, even in areas at sea where radio waves cannot reach. In addition, it features a built-in tutorial so that even first-time users can operate it with ease.

What is OEView?
OEView is a smartphone application that clearly displays key ocean condition information, such as sea surface temperature forecasts, current velocity forecasts, chlorophyll concentration, and sea surface height.
It is designed for fisheries, aquaculture, research, government agencies, and other marine-related fields, allowing users to check necessary data anytime, anywhere.
The sea condition forecasts provided by this app are generated by combining numerical models based on ocean physics with actual observation data using data assimilation technology for waters near Japan. This enables high-resolution predictions at a 2 km mesh, exceeding the common 10 km resolution. Future improvements aim to achieve predictions on the scale of several hundred meters.
For other regions, the app uses the 10 km resolution CMEMS model. Additionally, image restoration technology for satellite observation data enables rapid provision of sea surface temperature data free from cloud interference.
Key Features
- Display of 4 types of ocean data: sea surface temperature forecasts, current velocity forecasts, chlorophyll concentration, and sea surface height
- Switching display by period and location
- Offline use: downloaded data can be viewed without network coverage
- Overlay display: toggle on/off for depth contours, current vectors, and EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) boundaries
- Multi-language support: Japanese, English, Indonesian
New Feature: Step-by-Step Tutorial for First-Time Users
With this official release, the app now includes a step-by-step tutorial that launches upon startup. It guides users through operations screen by screen, with the option to skip or replay as needed. This ensures smooth onboarding even for those unfamiliar with IT operations.

Expected Use Cases
- As a reference for fishers in determining fishing grounds
- As a reference of fish school movements at sea
- Improving the efficiency of data collection and analysis for marine researchers
- Early detection and sharing of abnormal ocean phenomena
